Shock color

I'm being told that the shocks on a 69 442 came out of the factory grey. Someone is suggesting they might have been red. I'm in the process of a frame off Convertible. Any thoughts? Thanks

One of the vendors - I believe it is Year One but I'm not sure - sells a spray can shock absorber grey. I used it on my '68 and my '69. The Delco shocks I bought started out as black (on the '68) and red (on the '69).

GM shocks at the time were all grey.

Who told you they were red?

Kwz....just to clarify for you...GM assembly line shocks were grey. If you bought Delco shocks over the counter, they could have been several colors.

I used this on my shocks and compared it to an NOS set and it was a perfect match

The rattle can described by jensenracing77 on ebay is pretty much the same as offered by Year One, at about the same price, as I recall. I extended the new Delco shocks I bought, scruffed them with a scruff pad, cleaned 'em up real good and hit 'em with the grey spray. It worked nicely!

I'm glad you guys chipped in about the spray paint. The original paint is not just gray, but a bluish gray, as shown in the picture.

Here are a couple of the drive shaft I talked about. I can't post pictures in a PM so I posted them here.
