Wiw 1966 442
I've found something else to buy & would have to make a little room, eliminate a project, and some $$$ at this time of the year would also help. So, WIW 1966 442 - missing engine, trans, front bench seat - has some patchable rust in trunk floor, passenger foot well, hood & RH fender.
Per the P-O-P car was sold new here in Las Vegas, NV at Findlay Oldsmobile - was "autumn bronze metallic" w/"provincial white" painted roof, bronze bench seat interior, 400 4bbl, column shift auto, A/C, tinted glass, power steering, tach, AM radio w/rear speaker.

my opinion
$2500 purchase price. $25000 more to restore if you do lots of work yourself. There are plenty of really nice 1966 442s out there for $25K. This would not be a project car for me. Good luck with your decision.

Looks like a good project to me, but i like resurecting cars like this. So i agree with Oldcutlass. There not getting anymore plentiful, so why take it out of circulation by parting it? There are some well built cars for sale but also some shoddy work in my opinion. Build it yourself then you know exactly what you have, and then another 442 saved.

I can see why this one interests you .
Hurst68olds , I've always valued your inputs and insights to this forum .
IF you see value , put together a plan . You absolutely know , and can put together a vision for this car .
It is definitely solid enough . As others have indicated , goals and projected costs will be the next step . Something like this interests me because i could be looking at something similar in the future .
My next project ( IF I have another one in me ) would begin similar to this , and end up as a Nostalgia SS / E , 1967 Dealer installed Track Pack W- 30 .
I have a old friend that raced in the US Nationals in 1966 and 1967 in SS/E
Both cars were built at the dealership , Holiday Oldsmobile Minneapolis , and I have to find out the specifics , but both cars were most likely built with parts from the parts counter .
Love to hear where you are gonna go with this !
Perfect time of year for a new toy.. Merry Christmas ! J2

As a documented car with the POP and history, it has some inherit value over a little bit nicer car without them.
If you really like 66's and are interested in taking on a project- you don't find much cheaper starting points than $2500. You could easily buy a $8500 car that runs and drives that would need still the same amount of bodywork and "correcting"- ALl that said, you really must be in love with the original options on this car if restoring to original. If modifications would be desired- then starting with another car that more closely matches you goals would be better.
