What is correct valve cover color?

What is correct valve cover color?
Can someone tell me what the original valve covers would have been? Painted Bronze like the motor? Bare zinc? Chrome?
Car is 1967 442, factory 400 cu.in. with auto transmission.

The motor was painted with the valve covers installed. They are the same color as the rest of the engine (including the valve cover bolts).
