tach wiring

I am putting the gauges back in my 68 442 there is a short black wire with spade connectors on both ends. When I took the gauges out I didn't take a picture of where this wire goes. I think it connects to the back terminal on the left of the tach/clock assemble and then to the base of the gauge, this seems to be how the wire lays correctly but I'm not sure. Any help with this would be appreciated as I don't wont to screw anything up!

Hi Chris,
That is a ground wire. One side connects to the fastener on the passenger side of the speedo pod and the other connects to the fastener on the driver side of the tic-toc-tac side. You should have the same wire that goes from the passenger side fastener of the gauge pod to the driver side fastener of the speedo pod.

The other wires should be:

Orange - 12V power - on the double nut post to the driver side of the passenger side light hole.

Brown - to (-) side of coil - on the double nut post to the passenger side of the driver side light hole.

Randy C.

Grey - dash light 12V power when lights are on - on the small hex screw at about the 7 o'clock position from the driver side light hole.
