Interchangeable Rear End

Interchangeable Rear End

Had a question for you guy's....Will a 67 Malibu SS rear end fit a 71 442. Meaning bolt right in with no modifications....rims....drive shaft....parking brake cable....

yes. It might be a 10 bolt 8.2 or maybe the stronger corporate 12-bolt (non Olds)

I thought the spring perches were different and the track was a tic wider on the 64/67 I take it this is inaccurate?

The 64-67 axles are actually slightly narrower. The spring perches MAY be different. Some 64-67 cars used flat perches with bolt-on retainer plates. Some used the raised spring mounts like the 68-72 cars. You need to use the springs that match the axle housing.
