Inline Tube Exhaust Question
Inline Tube Exhaust Question
I purchased a Dual Exhaust system for my 72 442 Convertible from Inline Tube last November.
I finally got to the point that I could connect it to the stock exhaust Manifolds as I just finished installing my stock Heads.
The Right side installed perfectly.
The problem I am having is that the left side is hitting the trans cross brace and ends up being about 1/2" short,so it wont mate up with the manifold.
Has anyone else installed the Inline Tube system and found this same issue.
I emailed Inline tube this morning and am waiting for a response.
when you call Tech support you just get a recording telling you to send an email.
Here is a picture of the Pipes and mufflers installed with the Trans Cross Brace.
The right side has about a one inch space between the Brace and pipe when installed.

I bought and installed a 455 system for my 71 442 last October and it fit very well. That's a real drag it hits the crossmember. My understanding is they have one guy that does the pipe bending for them. It will be interesting to find out their response to your concern.
I just went back and looked at my original order and the one I bought said it was for both 350 and 455
I looked at my assembly manual and the pipe in question has different part numbers for 350 and 455
I'm guessing that the 455 Drivers side Exhaust manifold is longer than the 350 which would explain the shorter pipe
I will have to see if they have an answer for this.
I originally purchased this system along with about $2000.00 in parts last October 2018
Well, seems this is another case of a self inflicted gun shot wound.

While waiting for ILT to contact me I decided to remove the pipe from under the car so I could measure, take pictures or whatever .
So while I'm under the car loosening all the clamps, I noticed the the Drivers side muffler was about 3/4" too far forward,
causing the pipe to not be in the proper location to begin with. I originally only loosened the clamp at the front of the muffler so I could rotate the pipe, but because the muffler was to far forward it wouldn't allow the whole thing to line up properly. After loosening all of the clamps from the entire Drivers side front to back and adjusting everything ,I re installed the pipe with everything loose and wouldn't you know it, it all lined up.
It was so easy to pre install the thing with the Body off the frame, but it sure is a PITA to re do it with the body on and the engine in, on jack stands.
