Fuel Pump Advice

Hello fellow money burners,

My 64 442 has a leaking fuel pump, tried all of the normal suppliers and no got, OPGI says they got them in the catalog, but when you go online, can't see them.......... their not in out their yet.......

So do any if you have a handle on the mechanical types?

Thanks

The pumps are not that difficult to rebuild if so inclined, and if kits are available?

Just a note that the OPGI brake wheel cylinders I purchased, on arrival proved to have been "Made in China"!

Are you looking for an exact OEM repro, or just something that works? All 1964-1990 Olds V8 fuel pumps interchange. Just get the correct two port or three port version, depending on whether you have fuel return or not.

100% correct, mine just went up on me (just flat out fell apart) on my 1972 Cutlass 350 a few months ago, and I got a nice replacement from NAPA. NOS ones are available that you might want to use on E-Bay, but since mine's a driver I went for something newer. I noted they were the same for all those years.

Dave, if you know of anyone who rebuilds Olds fuel pumps of the '60s and '70s, that is those with the crimped rim, please inform. It seems like it might be possible, but I'm not aware of anyone who does it.

Unlikely. The website says:

Special Services:
  • Fuel Pump Rebuilding: We can rebuild almost any mechanical fuel pump that is put together with screws.
These pumps are crimped, not screwed together.

So it does. Strange? They rebuilt a distributor vacuum advance for me, and it is crimped together. That is why I suggested them.

I don't think the crimped pumps can be rebuilt.
