Electrical Problem with my 1970 442 W-30

Was wondering if anybody could help with a electrical problem with my headlights. Every time I pull on the switch it just makes a popping noise and I checked the fuse and its not blown....any help would be great thanks

Well, there is no "headlight" fuse, so I don't know what you checked. There are fuses for the tail/stop lights, interior lights, instrument lights, but not the headlights. There is a self-resetting circuit breaker inside the headlight switch. I suspect that the sound you are hearing is that breaker opening when you turn the lights on. This either means that there's a hard short somewhere in the headlight circuit or a bad breaker in the switch. For starters, try pulling the connector off the dimmer switch and then turn on the headlight switch. If you don't hear the pop, you've likely isolated the short to the dimmer switch or beyond. Verify that you get +12V at the dimmer switch connector. At that point, search for a short from there to the headlights.
