Would they be for an export model?

I'll bet someone modded it back in the day. That looks like they used a 442 grill to make the headlight mount

But the car is all original. Whatever they did they did a good job and it was done early. I won't be able to get into the trunk for a week or so who knows maybe the original parts are there

No it's not. Just look at those headlights.

I suspect Australia or New Zealand, judging by the fact that his car looks upside down.

You won't know what's inside until you open the trunk.

Personally, I suspect you will find more modifications than you can see right now.

You're joking, right?

Those are a custom installation, probably Cibies as noted above. The factory never installed anything but sealed beam T-3s, whether for the domestic market or for export.

Similar looking headlights were fitted on UK Vauxhall Viva models (GMs UK subsiduary).
I doubt they are the same as the ones in the OP though, I think the UK ones were all left hand dip pattern.
Most of Europe started using shaped headlamps long before North America stopped using plain round or rectangular ones. It was easy to spot a US spec version of many European models with a glance at the headlights.

Can you post more pics? More with the hood open would be good so we can see the mounting.

If that is directed at the OP, he last posted on this site on July 7, 2015.

Interesting car, though, if you look at the photos in that article.

I've got to say, it's one little thing that says something about this country:
The way that car company execs could order up (and drive around in) completely custom cars back then.
Imagine something like that today. Hell, the DOT would probably make them crash ten of them before they'd let the company register one.

There was a prototype '65 in Special Interest Autos like 20 years ago with a "bumperless front end" that had those headlamps.

Considering the grill/park lamp mount I'm suspecting prototype.

i know its an old post...but i think its a knock down car sent to europe or austrailia and converted to RHD>.he says its RHD...they had diff laws and lighting was one of them.....prob was there since 68 or 69..and a serviceman brought it back..

its weird to us..but prob government mandated..just like they all had to be RHD converted back then in some countries......

canada didnt have RHD,,they had metric speedos..but not RHD...as a matter of fact..Canada built 68s cutlass' ...it was part of the laws for imports etc..they had to build so many in country to be able to sell them....

The lights are in upside down. That's obvious.
