Backing up, hear clicking

Got another issue. In reverse, I hear and feel a clicking sound, sounds like it’s coming from passenger front but can’t be 100% as I’m in the car backing it out.

didn’t change anything with suspension, swapped out fans, thought that might be hitting radiator but it isn’t, any ideas?

i raised the front end of the car turned wheels all the way in out out to see if there were catching on something, they weren’t. The spin freely.

One click, repeated clicks? Does the rate of clicking change if you back up faster or slower? Turning or in a straight line?

Could be u-joints, could be wheel bearings.

It is a repeated click and it does appear to increase with the rate of speed. I did try to roll down my driveway, which is on an incline, with the car in neutral and there didn’t appear to be any clicking sounds.

not sure if this means it’s reverse gear in the Trans or something else.

thanks for any help.

Is this on the '69 442? Auto or manual transmission?

If there is any wheel trim remove it and test. Do look at the universal joints as suggested, a driveshaft dropping out is the start of a bad day. If you're not familiar with how to check the u-joints just ask.

Good luck!!!

Shift from drive to reverse a few times and listen for firm load shift, or clunk clunk clunk. That's U joints if so.

Can reverse load the engine to lift off a bad right motor mount and start banging fan? I don't really think so.
