Any experience w/repop convertible decklids from ebay?

Tamraz sells one from Taiwan, and Summit Racing sells one from Sherman (no COO listed) on ebay; both ~$450 shipped. Mine has some rust and dimples from the holes from the original OLDSMOBILE lettering in the paint. I'm getting it repainted and the body shop can repair the rust (but we all know we don't know how completely and how extensive they will do). So I'm inclined to just bite the bullet and buy a repop if they are good quality. Any experience?

No experience, but Sherman used to be US made (right here in southeastern Michigan). I thought a COO only had to be listed if the item was not made in the US, which leads me to believe that the Sherman one is still US made. Although I've been wrong many times before. Just ask my wife.

Remember a 4 door trunk lid will fit your convertible.

I would be amazed if a US-made part was exactly the same price as a Chinesium one. More to the point, there isn't enough of a market for these parts to justify TWO manufacturers making dies and stamping repros. The return on investment just isn't there. I'll bet every one of these trunklids comes from the same offshore factory, no matter who sells it.

I'd personally post a wanted ad here and on 442.com for a nice western part especially since 4 door lids are the same. (The 4 door lids will not have the correct '71-'72 Supreme "OLDSMOBILE" lettering holes drilled, but neither will the reproductions.) You should be able to get a very nice one for $275-$350 or so. I've done that a couple times with great results.
