69' 442 mufflers

I'm looking for advice on how to get the closest to original sound from my 69 442. Can anyone suggest where to buy oem style mufflers or what brand/type will get me that true 442 tone?

Exhaust sound is very subjective. Gardner Exhaust is a good source for reproduction factory mufflers and exhaust. Understand that the sound is a function of the entire exhaust system (pipe diameter and routing) in addition to muffler selection. Many folks like the more affordable Walker Dynomax turbo mufflers for the authoritative musclecar sound without the obnoxious drone of other aftermarket mufflers. Dynomax mufflers come in 14" and 21" body sizes. The longer ones will be a little quieter.

.... and a function of your cam.
If your engine doesn't have the factory cam in it, it'll never sound exactly like it did when it left the factory. Of course, no one's going to be able to argue what sounds "correct."
