68 conv 442

hey olds nation!! is there any i can tell if my 442 was originally a 3 or 4 speed besides the whole in the floor. it came with no engine or tranny.

Unless you can find a build sheet I don't think so?
There isn't evidence of a shifter on the column is there?

Does your car still have the original propeller shaft? The M14 3-speed used its own unique drive shaft because of the output spline count. The Dearborn had 28 splines, the Muncie 4-speed had 27.

If it has a console it would have the 3 speed pattern & not be drilled for the overlay 4 speed plate. No console would have it on the shifter ball so without that you're SOL.

no console. there is a drive shaft in the trunk. i will check it. thanks
