1970 442 Question?

Has anyone seen the movie Demolition Man? In the movie there was an orange 1970 Oldmobile 442 W-30. How many 442's came in orange? If so what's rarer orange with white or black stripes?

That movie is what got me interested in the 442s in the first place! I love the 1970 but I will make do with the 68 I have now

You need to check the color on your TV man...that thing was RED with black stripes and a black interior. And it was not a W30. Notice no ram air hood.
Do you really think that Sly would have been able to stand on a ram air hood and not go through it? I don't.

Hey man...it was a W30 with an OAI hood and he stood on it to leap on to the cop car in the chase.
I'm sure they reinforced it for the scene if Sylvester would go through it.
I wonder if a person really would?
Who wants to give it a try for science?

It was red.

the JWO had a story on it when the move came out. there were three cars to make the move. all were cutlasses made to look like W-30s, all had chevy engines in them till one after the move was made into a clone car.

Ok I stand corrected on the ram air hood.
I sure as hell wouldn't stand on mine for science or not.

rallye red can look orange in some lighting from some pictures I've checked out... my dream 442 is a '70 w-30 in rallye red with white stripes. There's one on the internet I've saved teh picture on my cell phone and it's been my background for over a year now.

I've been looking at Rally Red 1970 original paint jobs not only in pics and through other media, but countless times in person in all kinds of light for over 25 years. As far as I'm concerned, it is orange. Put one next to a Matador Red one (both 1970 colors) and you tell me what color it looks like.

the paint samples don't do it justice, Rally Red is quite orange as many people have noted. Next to a true red you would definitely say it is orange

Is it the same color that Pontiac called Carousel Red? That was definitely orange.

The Matador Red seems more "red" on my monitor than the Rally Red.

I have a 1:18 scale model of a '70 SX that is Ralley Red, and when I received it I thought they got the color wrong. Compared to Matador Red, it DOES look orange. ( in ANY light). I would call it more of a red-orange. I think the orange shades look better on Mopars, though.

It definitley looks orange and not red. It is however darker than the chevy hugger orange.
