Its interesting how things change. 25 years ago people wouldn't give most cars like this a second look except guys like us on this board. I experience the same thing. I go to a local car meet with the convertible and people look at the car. I drive the hard top and people swarm it. I suspect it has something to do with the fact that people feel "one day I can find something like this" or "That's a car I can afford" where a completed car may be perceived as "out of reach" by many.

Good luck today - hope you can get it

That's the same way I found my W-30. Posted a WANTED ad and the guy called me. Said he didn't want to sell it but wondered if I wanted to look anyway. I talked him into it. I think his wife helped, too.

I think I am as excited about it as you and its not even my deal, lol. My dad found a W-30 the same way. Ran an ad in the paper and he got a call.

Z code

Post a picture of the cowl tag. We need to know if that mysterious Z code is on the cowl tag.

Congrats on the purchase.

Good deal, glad you have that one sewed up. I have been like everyone else on pins and needles, hoping you would get it before it slipped away.

Congrats!

CONGRATS on the treasure find, they are not often found unrestored, complete, no rust, etc. hang on to it....

I have a special request, once you take possession of the vehicle and once the dust settles, would you be so kind and take detailed photos of the San Diego Trevellyan Oldsmobile license plate frame, I have been seeking that exact one, but need photos to have someone make a close copy as my '68 Hurst Olds came from that dealership. Anything you can do will be greatly appreciated.

What a sharp car and fantastic options. Was a bit confused, as the factory build sheet shows a hood lock, but then noticed on the Florida dealership work order that under dash wires were burnt. I guess the hood lock was also replaced along with the wires. Wonder what went wrong with the 442 just being a year old?

What is the TM-5 code for the rear axle noted in box 29 on the build sheet?

So the 442 went from California to Florida, and then to Arizona?

somehow the "BF" represents Fisher Body Fremont
the 0251 = 251st "34487" body for Fremont assembly

if "sammy's" car is a Cutlass Supreme hardtop .....
the 00449 = 449th "34257" body for Fremont assembly

I didn't know ......

from Wikipedia:
Fremont Assembly was a General Motors automobile factory in Fremont, California. Groundbreaking for the plant occurred in September 1961.[1] It was the new site for production in the San Francisco area in 1962 when production moved from the older Oakland Assembly. Production continued through March 1 of 1982 when the plant was closed after production problems. Partially demolished (south end and water tower), the remaining plant was refurbished as the more successful NUMMI joint-venture with Toyota in 1984[2] and later became the Tesla Factory, Tesla Motors' automobile plant in 2010.

Adam, your car is a mid build... ty for posting.

Ted...1970 C/S. BF. 08D 00489. Sequence number. 00891 Aug,28 1969

Johnny 1970 442 BF 09D 00251. Seq number. 02677 Sep,22 1969

Adam 1970 442 BF 01D 01082. Seq number. 15749 Jan,23 1970

Just interesting to see the relationship between Fisher body and the line and the number of cars going down the line.
