1970 442 AC/AT correct quadrajet number
1970 442 AC/AT correct quadrajet number
My current quadrajet part number. I was told this incorrect number for 1970 442 . Can anyone tell me the correct quadrajet number for my 1970 442 pace car?
Post a picture of your cowl tag and that will determine what model car you have. Oldsmobile built pace cars on different models. 264 were 442s, the rest were Cutlass. All were convertibles. Once you know the model you can determine the correct carburetor number.
If your car was originally a 350 cubic inch Cutlass Pace car then you currently have the correct carburetor number. You should however compare the carb build date to the car build date on the trim tag.
The VIN or the Trim tag will confirm a 442. If you know for a fact that it's a 442 then the 7040257 would be correct. If your going looking for a "correct" 257 carb you should get a carb that has build date before your cars build date. Otherwise someone is going to tell you "Your carburetor has the incorrect number." again.
Good thing no one has ever rebadged a Cutlass as a 442 or slapped pace car decals on a Cutlass.
