Looking to put a value to a 7029253 carb

Looking to find out how much a 1969 442 4 speed carb is worth.
I no longer have the J manifold I used this carb on and only have 70-72 cars now so maybe this is correct on your car.
I have a $

number I'm being told to ask but it's a lot and I'm curious as to what you guys here might ask.

This has been my test carb for a couple years now and always works everything is tight and like new that I can see.

Looks like a 1974 service replacement carburetor, so you won't near as much as an original would get.
Carburetor does look in good shape though.

How do I tell the service replacement vs original
I always thought of it as original and what I was told when I bought it

The 0494 code is the date stamp it was built. 049 is 49th day of the year. Year of 4 is last digit of likely 1974. Or 1984, but very very unlikely of that.

How much would a very good condition service replacement carburetor go for then. That is not what I was told it was but trying to learn everyday.

It's a used service carb, it works, but appears to be in good shape, so, 200-300 is what I'd be willing to pay for it. If it were a factory-supplied carb and was able to comply for date code matching, I'd probably go 400 or so. If it were NOS it would be significantly higher.

Not sure what figures you had in mind, but that's my opinion. Others may have a different opinion.

Best thing to do IMO is decide if you want to sell it or keep it. If you want to sell it, put a price on it you will accept, and see what happens. If you still have it in a few months, then you know it's too high. If it sells right away, go to the bank and deposit your money.

Well, I'm sure you got told whatever was most beneficial to he who told you.

Also, you should decide whether you want to do the "max dollar, I'm a business" sale method, or the "decent price to go to a good home to a brother in the hobby who needs it" sale method. If you do the latter, you'll need to vet your buyer, there are a lot of vendors who lie about being vendors and pretend to be fellow hobbyists so they can get good deals on stuff and flip it.

I'll just come out and say it I was told it was a 69 442 400 4 speed carb and worth 800-1000 and well as a replacement it is not.
I feel much better knowing what it is now for sure.
As a replacement carburetor the valve to some is up and down to others. I really don't need it any longer and wanted to put a number on it to let it go. At the same time I like getting a good deal and don't mind giving them at times either.

Honesty is the best policy, however, I did once buy a quadrajet core for 25 bucks and not inform the seller what it was for until afterwards. He was a little bombastic so he deserved the haircut.
