1968 442 W36 black fender stripes - what paint?

What paint is correct for the '68 fender stripes? I thought it was the same as exterior paint, but the assembly manual shows a different codes.

DuPont:
"ebony black" (code A) - 942-96459 lacquer
"ebony black" (wheels) - 780-76600 enamel
"black" (stripes) - 898-98685 lacquer

I thought they were gloss, is that correct?

I think Joe P said the W36 stripe paint formula was different so it would stick to the stainless where the stripe hits the wheel opening molding.

Go with the lacquer, it won't build up as much in the molding screw heads.

But seriously,

I wish I could help but I used a base coat/clear coat system. I had them paint the black first and then masked the stripe before shooting the red and then cleared everything, so mine's pretty glossy
