Along my travels I had read that the original release of Spyder wheels were recalled due to a safety issue.

SPYDER WHEELS were made by Motor Wheel Corp. headquartered in Lansing, MI

they are sometimes confused with Chrysler Corp's attempt at a factory aluminum & steel construction factory wheel - these wheels produced by Kelsey-Hayes were recalled before the 1969 model year cars went on sale in September of '68

the "mod rod" appears to have chromed SSII wheels on it

@Bushman455 I have recently unearthed a few high quality slides of this car. I'm having them converted to digital images. Shoot me a PM.

Hi, Good to hear from you. Looking forward to seeing the slides. By "PM" do you mean e-mail?
If so, it's wingerthomas@verizonet.
Thanks, Tom Winger

No, I just joined this thread while trying to identify the car that I saw back in my college days at UNC in the '70's, (see my post from April 2, 2018).

Good luck with you 442. Hope that you get it of storage.

For whatever reason I can’t see them either.

If Austin Powers drove a 442, that's what it would look like.

The car is a great piece of history. I have a ton of original pictures of this car and find it incredibly unique. The repaint leaves a lot to be desired in contrast to what Olds did in 67/68.
