I just returned from looking at a 67 Olds resto mod convertible that I am considering buying. But I am not sure what it was prior to being resto modded (if that is a word)
Here is the cowl tag with my apologies for the quality of the picture.
I don't know what to make of it but I am sure someone here can.

3 = Oldsmobile

38 = Cutlass Supreme V8 (1967)

67 = 2d convertible

It came with either the 310 hp or 320 hp 330. No other engine options.

"TT" represents a solid Cameo Ivory paint job.

980 = Black Vinyl, bench seat, and interior.

Modded is definitely car guy lingo. At a minimum.

I noticed you posted in the 442 section. Leading me to believe it was listed for sale as a 442 ?

1967 442s have to be Cutlass Supremes first and foremost but the cowl tag does not have the uber important 5V or 5VY on it.

Is she a Fremont car, is there a Z in the vin number ? Those are the only ones that wouldn't have the 5V designation. And in turn they are the easiest 442s to fake...

If she is legit it will take a lot more than decoders to prove authenticity without original paperwork.

This is a Canadian car. The "OS" indicates Oshawa assembly plant. Canadian VIN and cowl tags were different from US tags prior to the 1968 model year.

 

I should add Canadian stuff to that thread.

 

Thanks for the explanation on why I was unable to decipher the cowl tag. I did not want to question the far more knowledgable members of this forum but I did not, and still do not know what it is I am looking at on this tag.
For instance, on the top line the tag reads 338672-6-8 and I do not know what that means.
And does the 5V or 5VY code apply to Canadian built cars?
And my apologies for posting in the 442 forum. I do not know if it was originally a 442 and I would move the post if I knew how to.

TP10 = convertible top color, but I have no idea what "10" would be. 02 would be black.

And if you are wondering if this car is a real 442, it is not. The Jetaway was not used behind the 400 motor for the 1967 model year.

I am 71 years old and have never heard of a Jetaway switch pitch two speed automatic, either.
Not that it matters. This car has a 6.0 LS engine with a 700r4 tranny.
