Trying to I.D. my transmission

Hello olds family , im working with a olds 455 / th350 . About to button it up and slide it into my 79 cutlass . Nothing spectacular just stock overhaul any ways im needing a kickdown cable for it and also just for my own knowledge id like to know more about my trans. Decoding my engine i know its 73 out of a delta 88 . Id like to know more bout the trans .only numbers i came across is on the govenor cap ( LC030N75 ) and an B5 on the top Of the caseing . Do i need to search more or is any of this useful ? Mainly trying to find out year and if it a olds

To ID the transmission look at the pan.


If it came from a 73 Delta 88 chances are it's a TH 350 or TH 400.

Post a photo of the ID tag that is riveted to the case.

more than likely that is the die used when the case was cast at the foundry.

I work in a Big 3 transmission assembly/aluminum casting plant, every part cast has an identify letter/number cast into it. That make finding suspect parts much easier to find if there is a die issue.
