Do you need a special oil for in a 55? I was asked if you did or not?

Thank You!

I run Shell Rotella 15/40 weight has the additives you need for your engine. You will get lots of opinions on this one

I prefer to oil all my engines with baby seal blood. Sure its a bit "dicey" to obtain, but nothing beats its lubricity properties...

This post wasn't even remotely helpful. I appologize.

Oils to use with flat tappet cams.

You will want to use an oil with Zinc, There are some better than others. Summit Racing sells there own brand of oil with 10w30 5w30 10w40 and 15w40 There is also Royal Purple and Amsoil. Those are probably the best ones to use. My Opinion I use the Royal Purple in my 1968 Olds 350 with a Hydralic cam. Works great. Alittle pricey at 7.99 a quart. But cheaper than going to a roller cam set-up. hope this helps.

You are going straight to hell! Oops, I see you already live near there.

FWIW, I also use Rotella T 15W-40. You can get it really cheap at Sam's Club.

Here are some good threads about oil. Our older cars need zinc to help protect the non-roller cam parts. Easiest and cheapest solution would be a diesel engine oil.

That seal oil is really good for your seals and gets my seal of approval.
The hides make really good seat covers after the Eskimo women chew on them for a couple of weeks to soften them up.
