Wink 350/350 in a 65 cutlass

my cutlass has a 330 4bbl w/a jetaway in it now and with parts getting hard to get as each year goes by am thinking a 350/ 350 trans from a 1974 cutlass doner car, what problems would I be facing ? if any and maybe an anwser to solve them. thank you all for a great olds site..... jim

shifter linkage is no problem..bolts right up....if the 350 has a convertor clutch you will have to transfer the cable and bracket assembly..I think I did one a few years ago with no problem...and play with wiring for the convertor lockup....cant recall aout the length of the trans and using the same driveshaft..

If you are feeling up to it and want better mileage try a 200R4...thats what I have in mine...I think you have to either shorten or lengthen the driveshaft and move the crossmember back a little bit(mine didnt have the original trans so I had to lengthen my driveshaft)...and of course transfer the convertor clutch cable linkage ...lockup wiring...

This is a complete bolt-in. One of the easiest swaps ever.

Joe,

Would this also be a simple bolt up system for a 64 Cutlass too?

TCI

Ive decited to go with the TCI transmission, th350, mild shift, finding someone that rebuilds and will back there work is risky.

I tried working on it a few times this week, and mother nature just didn't want me to. Every time I went to work on it I would get in a good 20 minutes at most and it would start to storm pretty hard. Man I need a place to work inside

I finally got the 350 in today with the help of my dad and some friends. There wasn't any problems at all , just took a little time lining up the mounts.

"Harlyrules" if you are useing stock manifolds no problem. If you plan on headers you will have to move the engine back 1 inch. Which means redrill the frame mounts and redrill the trans cross member.

Do you have headers and is that what you had to do? Im asking because in the future I want to put headers on it and I read that 65-67 headers will work. I would just have to use a mini starter
