Exclamation Just might have found a diamond in the rough!

So the guy that i'm buying the '84 H/O from also has what he calls a '75 442, but is actually a '76 442 that has a BBO sitting in between the front fenders, backed by a Turbo 400 trans . And looking at the VIN on it, it seems to be one of the rare 143 factory 455 powered cars. VIN is 3G37T6RXXXXXX. So if I'm reading this right, it's 3 - Oldsmobile, G37 - 2 door coupe, T - 455, 6 - 1976, R - Arlington plant, and then the sequence number. Do I have that right? If so, then I'm going to try to get this '76 442 as a package deal w/ my '84 H/O. It's very rough interior wise, and one window is missing, but it should be savageable.

And if I can't get it, I'll post up the details so that maybe one of y'all can get it and try to save one rare last ditch effort big block muscle car.

Welcome to the site! I don't know much about your vintage, but please post pictures when you get the car(s) home!

As far as the 1976 442 goes I had one with a 350 many years ago and it was a nice driving car. Another place to get information on these cars is 73-77olds.com Not as active of a site as here, but they do focus on the 73 to 77 vintage which could be helpful if you get the 1976.

Edit: If the last digits on the motor block stamp match the dash vin then you know the 455 was installed in the factory!
