Wrecked the front of our 1990 Custom Cruiser

First full rainy day of fall here in Washington....and my 17-year-old son had his first accident. He's fine but unfortunately, he did demolish the front clip of his near-mint 1990 Custom Cruiser. Came around a bend and someone was stopped to turn left and he slid into the back of them. Their SUV had only super minor damage. Does anyone have or know of any available '86-90 Custom Cruiser front-end parts? The bumper is fine but the headlight bezels, grille, grille brace, and front clip are wrecked because he went under their bumper.

I would not call that demolished.

I am glad everyone is ok. I would give your son props for being as aware as he was. That is definitely fixable. Should be able to find those parts I would think.

I have a pair of NOS headlight bezels and an NOS Grille... I believe the grille is an 86, I will have to verify the part number... Email me direct if interested for prices and shipping cost - DIEHARDOLDS@NYCAP.RR.COM... However, if you will also need the header panel, I would take the time to search for a complete header assembly somewhere closer to your area and save on the shipping costs...

Nice as that wagon is you better grab those pieces CRUZN66 has. When Bambi whacked the Gray Ghost in 2018 I had a time finding any decent used front end parts. As many millions of 1980s 88/98 as were on the roads, they're close to non-existent in salvage yards now.

Thank you guys, I've been underneath and it appears the fenders and hood are undamaged (maybe scratched) but the braces for the front end panel are bent, the grille and bezels are busted, and the panel itself is cracked in half at the hood ornament and drivers side bezel. My son is talking to his tech school's body shop class to see if they want to help out for practice. Save some money with painting. The rest I'm pretty sure I can fix with parts and I'm likely going to pick up CRUZN66's Bezels. OLDCUTLASS you're right, it's not demolished, I just was at a loss for words at the time. Not as bad as I thought it looked. He can still drive it and the lights all work and still face forward. Bumper was untouched, stupid SUVs are tall enough normal cars go under them and the bumpers can't do their job!

Here's a good website to use to search for parts. I suggest starting out by searching nation wide then narrow your results.

My son and I found a NOS header panel for a 1980-85 CC with the painted wind split. All the mounting is the same I would just need the two grilles. Would it be blasphemy to put an older front end on a '90? I actually kind of like the older style front end and it would match the '83 my Dad had.

It's not blasphemous. Use the parts you can find. If someone doesn't like it they can take a hike because it your car.

You'll still have to paint the earlier part, and grilles for those comparable to what you have are still going to be hard to find. Depending on year there's also the divider emblem to find.

Your call but I'd repair the header panel and get CRUZN's grille.

An alternative is to cut the divider out of the NOS header and use the later grille.

Agreed on outsized SUVs. Has anyone else noticed that most drive-up ATMs are now sized for tall SUVs and trucks? At one branch of my bank, if I'm in the car I actually have to get out of the car to use it.🙄

I need a replacement front end anyway, the old one is cracked in half and split in two other places. Ebay has a pair of 1985 grilles and all the other parts are the same except the center rocket. It might just work. All the 80-84 98 and 86-90 CC front ends are used wrecking yard parts that are either okay looking or almost as much as the NOS one I located. Decisions, decisions.

I may still have a set of NOS Grilles for the split header as well as the one piece grille I posted previously... I will check my inventory tomorrow for the grilles and let you know...

The biggest parts I cannot find are the center grille support that attaches to the rad support and the two shorter braces (rods) for the bottom of the split grilles. My rod braces are a different part number for the one piece. Thanks CRUZN66, please let me know.

CRUZN66, my son changed his mind and wants to stay original. I still need the bezels though. I will also still need the center support and two brackets if anyone has those.

I don't have any header panel mounting hardware in my inventory... I will proceed to package the bezels and provide a shipping quote...

I was actually able to glue the grill back together and most of the headlight bezels so now it's not so bad for winter. We did get a front end panel from an '80 98 and they are the same except the bezel nuts are metal not nylon. it's burgundy so in the spring we'll put it on and get it painted to match. No reason to risk damaging the replacement parts over the winter!

Norman (the CC) is finally back together today. Thanks to CRUZN66 for the bezels and everyone else for their advice. My son and I got all the panels lined up this weekend and I got the final touches, hood ornament, and nameplate, done today. Our local Maaco, actually a good one, had the exact paint he was repainted with 22 years ago still and was able to replicate it. I had new rear fillers done also but haven't installed them. They were harder to match and aren't exactly the same as the front, but oh well. Also, I know the hood ornament is wrong but my son and I liked it better and it pays tribute to my long-ago sold 1980 98 Regency Coupe I wish I could get back too.

After a weekend of cutting and reforming the rear bumper fillers, I finally completed the install. The right-hand NOS fit perfectly, the rest holy crap! Fiberglass is stiff and hard to work with. I know the color is wrong, that's my fault. Having them is better than empty holes.
