restoring the wheels of 84 hurst olds

I picked my 84 hurst olds last week and over the weekend starting cleaning everything. The coating on the wheels is starting come off and it's beautiful shiny chrome under it. Has anyone used any product to strip that off and get it down to the chrome? Or have someone do it professionally? Any ideas and suggestions?

I stripped some H/O wheels years ago with an "Aircraft" product.

A quickie search shows (2) major products

1 - "Aircraft Coating Remover" by Mar-Hyde.

2 - "Aircraft Paint Remover" by KleanStrip.

IIRC (been close to 20 years) ..... it was the Mar-Hyde one that I used & it worked very well.

Might have changed tho' after all these years.

Potent stuff, make sure it only gets on its intended target.

Get some gloves & be sure to use it in a well ventilated area.
