I doubt it, I had 275 60 15's on a 15 x 8 with 4.5 backspacing on the back of my 69, but that was after i had the rear end narrowed 1 inch

I think if you use 15x7 rim in the back you may squeeze them in.

Sorry, but how does tire fitment on a 1969 apply to a 1966?

You can put a 15x10 easily into a 66 Cutlass wheel housing with the correct back spacing. I tried my friends 16" 275's on mine and it swallowed them. The aspect ratio was too short and looked like crap but they fit easily.
I could be mistaken but I thought back spacing needed to be half the rim width to fit on these properly? An easy way to do this is with a ruler and some string. Try this site out: https://www.rsracing.com/tech-wheel.html

'68 & '70 are two different things but here is my '70. Rear tires are 275/60 or 15x8 with what I believe is 4.5" backspacing. Front tires are 225/70 on 15x7. Both fit fine. Are you sure you are looking at 235/70's for the front? That is awfuly tall & not that easy to find. Also, with a car that age it is not exactly clear what stock height is. Depending how old the springs are they could very easily fit on one car that is "stock height" but not another. So I guess the answer is they may. If its possible your best bet is to try them on.

Smile Trip-Deuces & Joe P.

Trip-Deuces : I've always felt the '66 & '67 WW would handle prettymuch whatever you threw at them, with the correct BS and Offset. I'mthinking about getting one of those PERCY Wheelrite tools and find outdefinitively just how big will fit in there. Maybe that's the way to go andbe done with it. Joe thanks for refocusing the thread. I appreciate allresponses, but, sometimes threads and posts need to stay specific..Thanks,Nufo (Fred)P.S. If someone is running the same as I am contemplating, please jump in and give your opinion about any fitment issues you may or may not have had/have.

I run those wheels and tires on a 67. If you use the stock height I believe they will rub on the fender.

I actually have the Percy's Wheelrite but haven't used it yet. After seeing my friends 275's on mine I know 295's will fit with correct backspacing. I tend to like a taller tire so the wheel well and fender lip are a concern. Once the engine is done I'll start on the car body so I'll use the Wheelrite then.

Wink

I ordered the Wheelrite tonight. It will be here Friday and I'll bolt it on and
see what the "Little Miss Know It All" says. It will be a nice tool (hopefully) to add to the collection of -- Yep, I got one of those around here somewhere..

I had 275/60's on my rear wheels when i first got my car- 4.25 bs wheels and they fit without any problem
.
Though I didn't like the uber tall sidewalls and sold the tires and switched to a 255/60 on the rear instead.

It's a go

Thought I'd post an update. I got one of those Percy Wheelrite devices and tried it out. They're a bit pricey but they do work. I bent the hoop that comes with it to the profile of a 275/60x15 tire and adjusted the device for the backspacing and wheel size (15x8 4.50 BS) of what I want to run on the rear and damn they will clear the wheel wells without any issues. I'm thinking the 235/70x15 tires and 15x7 3.75 backspaced wheels I want to run up front should be no problem, but I'll wait till I get the front WW and fenders mounted on the car and check just to be sure. Sometimes, just sometimes, things work out the way we hope....
