Anyone running 17 x 9.5's on thier Cutlass

Considering American Racing Torque Thrust II's in 17 x 9.5 with 5.5" back space on my 71 Cutlass convertible. Anyone running this size rim on their Cutlass? This style rim with gray centers doesn't have too many width options.

I'm running 17 x9.5's with 275/50/17 tires on the rear and 17x8's with 225/50/17's on the front. No troubles with fitment whatsoever.

72CS,

Could you shoot me a pic or two of your ride? Would make my decision even easier.

Thanks, Dan

I have 17x9.5 rear with 295/45 tires. Fit fine with stock brakes, but I needed spacers when I put disc brakes in the back, which then required me to roll the lip on the quarter panel.

Proper backspacing is everything.

Here's a picture. I bought them under the brand name VOXX wheels, but they are indentical to COYS and other manufacturers. The fronts have 4" back spacing and the rears have 5.5" backspacing.

Thanks for the compliment. The new wheela and tires definately make the car look "tougher" than the original 14" wheels.

@ 72 CS - I like your setup a lot! Do you have disc brakes in the rear with this setup?

I know this is an older post but since it was bumped up: I have 17x11's w/6" bus on the rear of my 72 w/315-35 tires and it fits and looks great. The 70-72 Cutlass has a lot of room in the rear well so they will fit a larger wheel/tire combo.

@ orange442 - Do you have disc brakes in the rear? ...I'm hearing some of these after market brake kits make the wheel fit an issue as it widens the stance... I'm looking at going with 17x9.5's on the rear with a right stuff disc brake kit... Thoughts?

Those rims look familiar.

I also have 17x9.5 in the rear wheels. I don't remember my tire size off the top of my head though.

Edit: disc in the front, drums still in the back.

what are the back spaces for the front and the rear. I am looking at 17x8 on front with 4" bs and 17x9.5 rear w5" bs. I want to make sure they fit before I buy them
