Unique factory wheels on a 71 Delta Convert.
I found a 71 Delta conv. in the junk yard the other day. It had some unique factory wheels on it. I had not seen them before. Kind of neat looking, a little ahead of their time I think.
Anyone have any interest in them?

They are Super Stock IV. Made for Olds by Motor Wheel Corporation and based off MW's "Exiter" PolyCast design that was introduced in 1969. They are 15x7 5x5BP wheels, meaning they only work on the big car, though I have a set of 14x7 5x4-3/4BP Exiters on the Hurst/Olds.
If you can get them for $100 or less for the set, grab them. They may take a while to move and may not make much money on them but big car guys like them. I already have three sets of them but for the right money, might talk with you.
Look thru the car and see if all the trim rings are there- they are specific to the SSIV and not easy to find really nice ones. Most are road-rashed, which makes no sense because they don't protrude past the tire sidewall, but they are.
Unless the other side of that car is worse than the driver's, looks like a hood and fender could put that big guy back on the road. Clean as that yard is I'm guessing car hasn't been there long, but a heavyweight like a 71 Delta often does not have long once it makes it to the junkyard.

I am going to grab the wheels. They only charge 20 bucks a wheel so I will put some good tires on them and put them on my car trailer till someone needs them. It is 5 on 5 bolt pattern so they will work and make it a little more Oldsmobile. Now if only I had an Olds Tow vehicle...

It is in a thread in the 88 section but it is rusted out underneath and not a body panel on it is good. The interior is shot. Its been sitting way to long out in the elements. The only good thing is that the engine compartment is complete.

Nope. Fancy wheel options did not exist for the 1973 big car. It was dogbowls, two different styles of full wheel cover, and simulated wire wheel covers.
The SSIV was available only in 1971 -72 though a lot of big car guys put them on 73-later cars. They offered a Custom Chrome Wheel in 1977-79 that looked sharp and used the same trim ring as SSIV.

Those are Motor Wheel Corporation Spyders and the seller is "misinformed" (I'll stop short of saying he's full of it, since he may actually believe those were a factory Olds wheel option). Closest they are to an Olds factory wheel is that the same company made them and the SSIV Polycast, which in itself is a variation of a late-60s aftermarket design- the MWC "Exiter".
Spyders were strictly aftermarket and really popular on Mopars around here.
