SS1 or SS2?

Need help!

I have a perfectly good set of SS2 rims on my 70 cutlass conv, but I love the look of the SS1 so I'm considering buying them. Which do you like better?

Do you have any recommendations on where to get a good deal on new repro SS1 rims?

Thanks

Just my 02, but some color combinations determine which look best...they both look good and you can't go wrong either way, but let us know what colors your working with - pics may help as well.

I agree. A pic of the car would help. When I got my car I had black SS2's on it and didn't like the way they looked with the color combo. I have polished Torq Thrusts now. I also have a set of repro SS1's in the garage I picked up. I am not sure whether to keep what I gave of do the SS1's. When I have a chance I am going to try them on & take some pics.
BTW - whichever ones I decide not to go with will be available.

Go with what you like best. There's nothing wrong with SS11's. What I like about them is you can always change the color of the wheel to suit your fancy at the time. SS1's do look really nice. I have SS111's on my car. Thought about SS1's but for me it's not worth it.

I like them both, nice thing about SSIIs is they are unique to olds while SSIs look like a few other manufacturers. But on some color cars nothing looks better than an SSI, all personal preference

SS1 wheels

I have SS1's 14"x7" on my 70 442............I like that style over the
SS2 & SS3

I'm thinking of restoring my SS1 wheels, the spokes are kind of dull.........does anyone know if the spokes are polished or are they chrome?

Thanks
Joe

Hey There Can you read the letters stamped near the valve stem??? It is possible you have 69-70 Chevy SS wheels. They look like OLds SSI but spokes were painted instead of chromed.

these are Olds SS1 wheels, they are brushed chrome and the # are stamped on the rim......you can't see them when the tire is on

my442conv It sounds like you must have Olds or repro wheels then. You can try polishing them with OOOO super fine steel wool.

Moto wheel vintiques and stockton wheel are both vendors of reproduction SSI style wheels. There are more choices than the factory 14x7 size available
