Un-Pimped My Ride!

Well... HERE SHE IS!!! I ditched the 17's and went with new 15x8 Cragar smoothies & 255/60/15 T/A's on all 4 corners. I know it's not everyone's bag (especially you younger guy's)... but I love it! It's just the clean, old-school look I was wanting. I think it's a much more befitting look for my mellow, classic cruiser (not taking anything away from you guy's with the 17's & 18's... just different strokes.) I'm also pleased that my ugly brake drums don't show anymore. I took her out and tried to get the front tires to rub (turned full-lock into driveways & through dips, etc.), couldn't get any rub so far. I really wan't to thank everyone that replied to my "Rate My Wheels" thread... it was a great help to hear everyone's opinions & advise. I doubt I could have made an as informed decision without the help of the CO forum!
Now... it's time for NEW CARPET!

I knew if they're chrome, they'd look good. Very cool old school look!

Thanks guys, I'm real happy with the new look... and don't worry Jerr, I'll get some pics with Krissy soon (she was at work today... makin' wheel/tire $, lol)

Soooo, I was thinkin'... I bought four 1/4" wheel spacers with the wheels, just in case I had too much back-space, which doesn't seem to be the case. I haven't opened them and was gonna send them back. Then I got the idea to stack them behind the rear wheels and push them out 1/2" each. The thinner centers on the steel wheels would leave plenty of length on the wheel studs. I'm sure this must be a bad idea... but why??? (as in, talk me out of it)

Extra stress on the axle bearings, and lug studs, axles, etc. It looks great just the way it is. The Smoothie was a great decision.

Nice. Red & chrome always work well together. Really pops without being bling-y.

Wheel spacers are always the path of last resort.

Yeah, I don't need anything in the back of mind to worry about... I'll send the spacers back. Thanks

Looks good, and I think they go well with the car.

Almost as good as originals IMO.

I hear ya... but the stock wheels would be a little too original for me.
I was going for what she might have looked like in the seventies!

At least now it doesn't look like there should be rap music playing & bass thumping from the trunk!

Wheel spacers are just plain dangerous, don't use em! Get the proper back spacing at all cost.

Hey! I just noticed (incredible powers of observation huh?) you don't have any emblems or badges on your car. Because??......

Now that you've got your 'ol school' look, you need flames on the front and sides

My car was de-badged when I got it... never gave it much thought. I do enjoy people trying to figure out what it is, though.

And yes, I love flames... as long as their on someone else's car!

Funny, I had never even heard of a Delmont 88 until I found this forum... and I consider myself a "car guy"!

I don't know, I've seen some classic cars with 17/18's that I thought looked great... I just didn't like them on my car. I think it has to do with overall look, or theme, your going for. I sure notice the difference in handling between these tall 225/60's and the low profile 17" tires I had before... a lot more sidewall flex in the turns! I'm sure it just a matter of getting used to it. Much smoother ride on the freeway, though... now it rides like a Oldsmobile!

I didn't think it looked bad before (and I am an old guy) but this is an improvement. I know it has to ride better with some sidewalls on the tires. It is a great looking car.

Looks great!!! I'm looking for new wheels for my '63 Starfire. Could these be the ones? It's got 20" Foose wheels with 35 profile tyres on at the moment and I really don't like them!!

Here ya go, Jerr! Best I could do on short notice.

We did about 160 miles down PCH-1 today. The car rides & handles fantastic! I couldn't be more pleased with the results!
