295 tire fitment on lowered car

Will 295 tires fit on a lowered 71? If so how much can it be lowered and have them fit well? Is 295 about the limit on a 71?

Thanks

295's will fit. I have a set of 325's on a 71 that fit with no problems.

Wow, that's a wide tire.

Make sure you have the correct wheel backspacing for the tires to clear everything.

I need 17 or 18 inch wheels, but that looks awesome.

Thanks

Why do you NEED 17-18? Brake upgrades?

285/40/18 on the back, lowered a good 2" or more. The fenders lips are rolled and I have no rubbing. I don't recall my exact backspacing, but I have a good .5" space between inside of tire and frame rail.

I'm told the 70-72 cars have more room in the back than 68/69. You should be able to get a 295 back there no sweat.

305/40/18 on 18x10 with 5.75 backspacing. BMR 2" drop springs rear. Fits with room to spare.

Nitto 305 45 18 drag radials on 18 x 10's. BS is 6 because the 12" Baer rotors in the back push the tire out about .5". If you run stock drums or even smaller rotors in the back it would probably still be 5.5 BS on a 10 rim. Make sure you get that right or you will rub for sure. If you are going to add bigger brakes later - wait to order your rims or be prepared to have to get new ones AFTER you upgrade the brakes. Same goes for the fronts. Rear has CPP 2" drop spings. Had to roll fender well lips, massage inner wells with a BFH, and put dents in both 3" tail pipes where the tires get close but....I get sideways a lot and do some hard cornering. If you're doing mostly straights and not getting sideways or taking really hard corners you could probably get away with less clearance than me..

BFG white letters are glued on just for the look but these are Nittos.

Thanks for the info. I have C6 brakes I am going to be putting on so I know I need at least 17" wheels and they are fairly big calipers.
