Wheel Vintiques SS1 52 Series

Im looking to get a set of SS1's from Wheel Vintiques. I have a 70 442. What recommendations are out there for 15" rims. Would 15x7 in the front and 15x8 in the rear fit well? The rear back space is 4.5"... Front is 4.375"...

Thoughts...

Any pics?

Tire size:
Fronts 225/70/15
Rears 275/60/15

Thanks

Joe

TX Only been waiting 10 years to do this. High quality wheels, great chrome. Bought the centers through Fusick high quality exact repros as well. The wheels tires and a new Dennys aluminum drive shaft have rid the car of a vib I could not fix....think the 28 year old Remington XT120 tires on used SS3 had something to do with that???

Yes, that combo would fit perfectly on a 70.

Thanks for the help fellas... Doc glad you were able to get what you wanted on that 69... Looks great!!!!

Orange looks like you have an "A" list of cars from your signature... Do you have any pics of those F85's... My dad also has 1 of 207 W31's... His is white with red stripes.

Bolt pattern is 5x4.75 correct?
I would like to run the 60 series tires front and rear, any recommendations to the sizes?

68-69 cars have much less room in the rear wheel wells than 70-72 model.

On my 69s I ran 235 60 15s up front on 15 x 7" with 4.25" BS & 255 60 15s out back on 15 x 8" with 4.5" BS. That was on a stock suspension.

Currently I am running 15 x 8 Repop SSI's on all four corners of my 1970 W30. I have 265-50-15's on the front and 295-50-15's on the rear. I have no rubbing issues, BUT... There always seems to be a 'but' somewhere.

I put this same set on my 1967 Cutlass convertible and did experience rubbing at full lock on the front. So I popped this set on my 1971 Cutlass Convert and experienced even more rubbing on the front.

So just a word of caution, just because someone says it fits 'their' Cutlass or 442 without rubbing does not guarantee they won't rub on 'your' Cutlass/442!

By the way, I am going through the front suspension on the 71 soon so I can run the tires on it as my W30 is in the garage for paint.

What brand are your 265 50 15s? The only current brand is a line from Hancook. Are they old tires? What is the date code on your tires?

Will the 15x7 SS-1 rims accept trim rings?

I bought new SS1's for my 67, 275-60-15's rear and 225 70 15's up front. I got the 5 inch back space on the rear wheels, but its still mostly apart and the rear is up high at the moment. I do hope it comes down more when all the weight is on the car. When i first got my tires mounted, i brought them home and pressure washed them as there was still alot of tire mounting grease, or what ever it is they use to mount the tires. Anyway i noticed on the backs of the wheels in alot of places, small rust started forming in the unfinished chrome. So i cleaned them up and sprayed gray epoxy primer on the back sides of the new wheels. Hopefully this will keep them nice for a longer period of time. I got my center caps from Thorntons, they have the correct lip.

I am looking at the same setup for my 1970 442. I assume the backspacing listed will work with the front disc brakes?

Scroll up to post #9. That is a disc brake car with the set up you desire.
