What size tire for 15x7 SSIII rims on 1969 Cutlass S?

Hi,

I'm looking to replace my 14" 14x7 rims with 15x7 SSIII stock rims I have with the bolt on caps. I've read a lot online here about guys using 245/60/15 all around on these rims on 70-71-72 models and they look great. I'm wondering if I'll have any issues on my 69 Cutlass S using that size all around the car and in particular on the front with my disk brake setup. Don't want to get caught with any rubbing on the front or rear wells. Thanks for any help.

I run 255/60-15 BFGs on the stock 15x7 wheels on my 69 H/O. I get very slight rubbing at the front if I hit a bump with the wheels turned hard - for example entering a driveway. Otherwise, no issues at all.

Thanks very much Joe for the information as that will help with my decision on the 245/60/15 tire size.

I run the 245's on 15x8 (4.5" BS) Torq Thrusts all around on my '72 - added 1" aluminum wheel spacers to the rear to push them out a bit for a more full look while still retaining 4-wheel rotation ability.

Discs up front, no rubbing on turns or bumps.

just watch your backspacing - I believe 4.25" is standard for the 15x7's and that should work perfectly with the 245's assuming rest of your suspension good.
