What 14 x6 wheel Whitewall to Buy?

My Uniroyal Tiger Paw AWP II's on my 79 Calais & my 79 Brougham are about to age out, so I am looking for another whitewall set for each. NOT interested in more Uniroyals, they are awful at highway speeds. Plus the whitewalls turned hopelessly brown within a year. I use both these cars as semi regular run arounds, especially the Calais, I'm not afraid to get in that car and drive it 1000 miles.

It seems the only thing out there with a whitewall in a 205/75/14 are the HanKooks or the American Classic. I had a set of American Classic's but I got ripped off with that set as they were already 5 years old when I bought them and were hard as rocks within 2 years. They are long gone, but I did like the full 1 inch whitewall. Plus they are nearly 2x the price.

Does anyone know of another brand that's got a decent driver quality whitewall tire that size? It seems like slim pickins out there, not much of a selection.

Hankook makes a good tire. The set I had on the wagon were anyway.

Diamondback Classics can put any whitewall or red/blue/gold stripe you want on a new tire casing but not exactly inexpensive.

I have Hankook Optimos on my 1985 Delta. They have zero wet traction. Rainy days are like driving on ice.

Heard the same thing about the Optimos. I'm looking at the Kinergy ST's the only whitewall on Tire Rack of this size.

I heard MAXXI's has a ww but I think their tire is a 70 and I'm preferring the taller 75. I've got 70's on the 79 H/O

It's looking like the Kinergy's will get the nod. My plans keep changing on exactly how I'm getting to the Nationals, the latest being the weekend prior to the show I'll be bringing an empty trailer from SC where I am moving to, on up to Maryland where my wife is from. She'll be staying with her family while I grab a flight from BWI airport to Bradley Airport in CT. I'll be driving the car from CT where it currently is in temporary storage back to Maryland & then trailer it from there to TN.
I am looking forward to the drive from CT to MD more than the trailering for sure. And I'm not too keen on driving with 5 or 6 year old tires on hot summer pavement. That's why I'm going with an everyday driver whitewall as opposed to getting classic tires.
Fortunately I have 2 sets of rims for this car, so I can switch them myself without the lugs getting beat up by a shop's air wrench.

I wish there were more of a choice for this type of tire, but these days I guess I should be happy there's anything out there at all for a 14 inch wheel.

Ordered those Hankooks yesterday. The tire dealer/installer asked, "whitewalls out?" When was the last time you heard anyone ask that question.

Priceless.

Quick update on the Hankooks. So far I highly recommend these for an everyday tire. These tires went straight from being mounted and then installed in the storage facility to the trailer then on to Murfreesboro, TN for the Nationals. I managed to keep the bluing on them until the huge thunderstorm that hit us Wednesday night wherein that portion of the tire that wasn't covered by the car cover had the stuff dissolve clean off. And ALREADY I can tell the quality of the whitewall is much better than the Uniroyal AWP II's were from day one.

Anyway, the car went from the show field to Nashville Speedway that Thursday, what better way to test a fresh set of road tires that on a NASCAR oval? They did extremely well for a stock tire, I was darting high and low on the track from everywhere I was able to, turn's straightaways, etc. Really nice handling, Almost shocking, no slippage and I drove the car as hard as we were allowed to, just ask my co-pilot who filmed the entire gig.

I will be buying another set for my black/silver 79 Cutlass Supreme Brougham. Soon.
