Tire size for 15x7

So I know the correct size for 14 inch is
225–70-14 which is 26.5 in height what would be the closest in 15?

I come up with 245-60-15 which is 27.1

my tires are 235-70-15 which i think are too big at 28 inches to tall

They look fine. Are you worried about the overall gearing? What's your diff ratio?

So do you want a shorter tire for looks or gearing? Are you happy with an effective 3.00 final drive?

I ran 255/60/15 in the rear with a 235/60/15 in the front and swapped out the speedo gears to make it correct. I'd have to look up what I swapped to. It's been a while.

Difficult to truly judge tire fitment without a dead on profile shot of vehicle. It's the most important view when it comes to tire appearance.

245 60 15s are 26.5 inches in diameter.

Below are 245 60 15s.

28 inches is too big in appearance... especially when stock height or below... and depending on your taste...

I was originally thinking 245/60/15 and like the way they look 255 would fit but too big

245x60x15. Crappy pic but you get the idea. I went from 225x 70 x14 to these.

Both are beautiful and wheels look great on both.

Johnny stance and rake is a key player in this department. Here is a 70 S with 275 60 15s (28.1 inches tall)

I think this looks really, really, good. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/19...ile-cutlass-7/

But the look changes dramatically with stock stance and rake. Below is factory correct.

28s on stock and correct will make the car look like the suspension is shot more than ever. Like its collapsed down onto the wheels.

So here is the best side shot i had 235/70/15 i think your 245/60/15 is my best shot.
Myy car does sag in the rear alittle bit.
But i would never change the rear springs as it would be too high ,been there done that before.
maybe those dumb spring helpers might work, i have done that before.
actually was considering 255/60/15 rear and 235/60/15 front to give it the rake back or more even atleast 235/60/15 equals 26.1 and 255/60/15 equals 27.1?

Yup more like mine thats why i am going with 255/60/15 and 245/60/15 for my sagging rear springs 27,1 & 26.6

Yeah the back doesn't look too bad but the front bothers me. Like when someone puts a full-size cars tire upfront save for the raised white lettering. Similar to when you need any spare available just to get by. A hodgepodge, and it accentuates the sagging rear.

If you weren't purist leaning raising the rear an inch or so would change the whole dynamic for the better...

That should work out well.

I went with 255/60/15 because of price. But the difference in size is miniscule. I don't have a current picture of my car to show you but I think they look good. My car is a 1969 442. Here's what I got from Tiresize.com for you to compare.

Maybe i shouldn't say sagging but "broken in", New springs are always too high,
I like the stock height after 55 years here is my result 255/60/15 rear 245/60/15 front.
I am very happy with the sizes
I don't think it as Hodgepodge but retaining Originality, I think i got the same stance but a little lower all around.

.

Yeah I'm not saying the factory configuration looks like a hodgepodge. I'm saying significantly taller tires than original up front in conjunction with factory stance and rake can make it seem that way.

Apples and oranges but when I first got my 69 she had 27.4 upfront and 26.6 in rear. That along with the rears factory worn stance drove me nuts. Looks like the shop that did the brake conversion possibly mixed the tires up. Or rotated them without realizing they were not uniform.... First thing I did tire wise was swap taller to the rear and vice versa but now the fronts were wider than the rears. It was a real actual hodgepodge.

Tire size choice looks great in my opinion, fills in the wheel well opening a bit makes the stance look better.
