Tire height for a 72 cutlass
#2
OEM tires were F78x14 on non-A/C cars and G78x14 on A/C cars. The F78s were 26.50" in diameter. The G78s were 27.05". The closest readily available 14" tires you can buy today (as opposed to expensive repros) are 225/70-14s, which are 26.4" or 215/75-14s, which are 26.7".

27" will be about perfect. The problem is that most 17" tires are low profile and only 25" or so in diameter. Get wheels with near zero offset. You can run 245s in the front with no issues and at least 275s in the back. I don't know if anyone actually makes these sizes, but 245/50-17 in the front and 275/45-17 in the back would be just about right.
