17" tires and wheels

Grabbed some new 17" torq thrust M's today in 17" so I have more of a selection of tires. I need to know if anyone would know what size roughly will fit decent and not cause the speedometer to read far off. Right now my 215-60-15's cause the speedo to read 8mph fast and RPM's are 500 higher it seems. Wondered if anyone had a recommendation on 17" tire sizes to eliminate over rev and fast MPH. Would rather it read slower than fast. The rims have 4.5 back space so I want a tire that will fit in the fender and look decent. Not to tall not to wide and not to skinny with a raised white letter.

Thanks in advance.

Given the original size G70-14 outside radius 26.80" current P225-70-14 replacement is 26.40 outside radius.
17" tire P245-50-17 calculates to 26.60 outside radius.
Big issue is the raised whites, looks like truck tires only.
Discount Tire 3 black walls available $173-265 per.

Im actually going to go with black wall in 17" however I am going to run either 255-45-17 which will give me 26.04 Outside or a 305-45-17 which gives me 27.81 outside which will fill in some of that wheel gap.

From reading Joe P's posts about tires our cars were made for a 27" tire to properly fill the opening and make it look decent. Going just a tad taller might make it look crappy I dont know. So I am also leaning towards a 255-50-17 which is 27 outside even.

Just wanna make sure these will fit width wise and not look like ***.

So options are..
255-45-17 - Outside Diameter (26.04)
255-50-17 - Outside Diameter (27.04)
305-45-17 - Outside Diameter (27.81)

I can also get any of those tire sizes listed and most others for 150 or less each shipped to my door in Riken, Nitto, BFG, and Toyo to name a few. I'm not to worried about tire price done researched tire pricing and 17" is more readily available, with alot more options and brans and more times than not same price or cheaper than 15 or 16" tires.

Or possibly a smaller front taller rear for a stance look? THoughts on above sizes anyone?

I think I am pretty set on the Mikey Thompson P 235 /55R17 tires. They are 27.18 Outside and seem to run fine on our cars. So I pulled trigger and ordered them. Grabbed them up for 126 each.
