Spare ???

Hi All,
1970 442.
I do not have a spare and would like to get one on the cheap.
I do plan to drive a good bit, but will stay mainly in a 10-20 mile radius.
I could also use a small tire if there is one.
Any ideas???
BQ

14" rally rims (SSIIs) are a dime a dozen, get one of those and go to a tire shop and get a cheap used 14 inch tire.

Just something to think about before you buy just any spare.....

If you have a posi rear and you use two different circumference tires you'll wear out the posi unit, I don't know how long it takes but it makes sense....

or so I've been told.....

Hi Mike,
That is news I can use.
I would hate to be a ways away and tear the back end up!
Thanks.

there isn't many 14 inch tires available for our cars so chances are just about any 14 inch will be close enough to work as a spare. I'd certainly try to match it as close as possible but just saying a few miles on a spare an inch off won't do any harm to your car.

The best thing to do is match the circumference. 14" tires vary quite a bit. A 235 70 14 has a circumference of 84.8". A 205 70 14 has a circumference of 79.6". You can go to a 15" for a spare too. I've got 245 60 15's and I have the same problem. I have a 245 60 14 as a spare. I've been seaching for a suitable spare in either a 14" or 15" but, because I'm cheap, I don't want to buy a new one
