Rim center cap installation

I have 1998 Aurora chrome rims.

Each time I try and install the center cap, I break clips.Half the time I get work done on my car, the caps end up falling off because the technician didn't put them on properly.

How do I properly remove/install the center caps without breaking any clips?

Thanks

It should just snap into place for installation, to remove pry on either of the 2 notched areas that are 180* from each other.

Thanks for the reply.

Any attempt to snap it on, without doing anything else, always results in tabs breaking off.

I took it to a Cadillac dealer once, and their service guy also broke tabs off when they tried.

Could it be they are just getting old and brittle?

I would say none of the caps are original to the wheels.

I've been getting them off of ebay since I keep losing/breaking them. I can't vouch for their age/quality vs the originals.

Any attempt to force them on breaks at least 1 tab. They usually stay on with 1-2 broken tabs but they don't sit flat and eventually fall off.

Are you using the correct lugnuts?

They're the ones that were on it when I got it so I am not sure.

The tabs start breaking before the cap gets to the lugnuts though.

Maybe a heat? Set in the sun tabs up for a few hours, soak in warm water.
