New 17 wheels installed, not sure I love the look

Just put 17x8 Torq Thrusts on looking for more of a staggered muscle look. Love the wheels but not sure on the tire sizing. I went 275/50 in the back and 225/50 up front. Both are Nitto NT450's. going for staggered but I think the OD difference is too much. Thinking of going 255/50 in the front. What do you think?

Considering that you didn't even tell us what type of car these are on, it's hard to provide an opinion.

Of course, I've never let that stop me before...

The diameters aren't that bad if we're talking about an A-body. 27" on the fronts and almost 28" on the back are about right. I personally have a problem with the "rubber band around the wheel" look of larger diameter wheels, but even the 255/50s have a 5" sidewall. I think part of the problem is that a 255/60-15 would have virtually the same O.D. but a 6" sidewall that looks a lot better in proportion to the 15" wheel. Just my opinion, but it's an optical thing.

I think they look pretty good, I too prefer more sidewall but those rims are not that big and the sidewall not too short. Give it time.

the question is do you like them. heck with what everyone else thinks. One thing you might think about, see if the olds inset cap will fit on your new wheel. I bought the 17" American Racing Wheels and put the olds cap back along with the Nitto 555 and am very pleased with the results.

I'm with Jamesbo. Not my first choice, but not bad. It's hard to tell from the angle in the photo, but the front looks a little high (typical on these cars). I'd cut a half coil or so and drop the nose a little.

You have two problems. The fronts are smaller in diameter than a 205/70-14 tire (25 vs 25 1/4). Your rears aren't too bad (just over 27.5), but the car is just too high in the back. Shorter rear springs (or taller front tires) would give it a better stance.

I thought that it was a bit high to , but I really dig the old school muscle car era of jack up the rear super high lol

Yeah, that's my hold up. I don't like it as much as I should. I guess I'll go back to the drawing board and test fit the 255's. hopefully I can sell which ever two (or four) that I replace.

So what are you not liking ? the way the tire hugs the rim or how tall the tire is from ground to rim ? If that makes any sense I like the way the tire hugs the rim just think it needs to show a bit more rubber from rim to ground in my opinion

I'm hoping by putting the 255 up front will match up better with the rear 275 from a side profile view. Still leave some rake and maybe room to drop a bit.

Part of the problem is having the same size wheels but different tires. Needs a narrower wheel in front and a touch taller tire.

I could use some help. Any suggestions would be great. Would it just make sense to go 255 all around?

In my opinion I think it's aliitle thick in the rear for a 17x8 I think the 255 would look better . I like the look of the front but agree the front end needs to tuck the wheel a bit more

I am feeling the opposite on my wheels I got the tires for free and they are not near wide enough for me

Here is a pic of my rear tire and wheel to give so prospective
On it

needs 9.5" in rear and keep the 8" in front with a little bigger tire up front.

Think 245/55 makes more sense up front?

Don't even see that size on the Nitto site any more. I would do a 255-50 up front for the look you want

Thanks guys. Love seeing your rides on this site. Much to the dismay of my wife. My "as-is" driver has been taking a life of its own. I have to say though, absolute blast to work on and LOVE to drive it. Putting an Edelbrock intake and carb on it with HEI distributor. Got most of the lights working and now on to the replacing the top. Next year will be suspension, stereo and interior. Looking for ideas on accents for the exterior too. Chrome rocker panel? Rally stripes or ghost stripes with hockey stripe on the side? Never ends but it's a blast.

hmmm, not sure i remember. it was a company out of Texas that had good connections with American and they got a "preferred" shipment. Since I bought them i noticed them available from Year One. They are very proud of themselves on price. I went with 9.5 wide rear 8.5 front. Hunt the internet, get your price & go.....happy hunting

I really like the look. I don't usually go for these changes but this one looks great.
