I would do the 5.5" BS. I have 18x10's w/ 5.5 BS on the back with 285 tires and things start getting cozy. You can get a 305 tire to fit if you're very precise.
I have some interference with my Pypes tailpipes, but got good room to the body lip. Hitting the exhaust pipe doesn't matter too much, but hitting the lip would mess things up.
I don't think 4.5" BS on a 15x10 will fit (without issues). I have 5" BS on my 15x10 and 295/50 tire and I had to roll the lip to prevent it from rubbing. 5.5" BS on a 10" wheel is ideal for A body cars.
I run the ssr spikes from jegs I went with the 15x8's and 15x4's I preciously had centerliens 15x10 with 5.5 BS. I like the look of a 275 60 15 on a 15x10 .

The standard GM bolt circle is 5x4.75. 5x4.5 is a ford thing.
I would do 4.5" BS on a 7" rim on the front.
One thing to keep in mind is you can always correct too much backspace with spacers, but you can't do jack about too little backspace.
Just note that polished aluminum is a lifestyle choice.
They have to be maintained. The aluminum will corrode if left alone. Must be polished and waxed on a regular basis. If you don't enjoy removing wheels (if the hoop is polished - gotta get the back side too!), cleaning, polishing and waxing a few times a year, then go with painted or powder coated wheels.
Major PITA. I did it for the Cutlass, but went for painted rims on my daily.
Whatever matches the tread width you want to run up there. The tire manufacturers always show min/recommended/max wheel widths for each tire size.
I'm running a 245 front tire, so a 8" rim.
If you want street handling, then go wide.
If you want drag times, go narrow.
If you want style, well, whatever style you want!
If a rim is rated for 1,200 lbs per rim. Would they be adequate for a 1972 442 convertible that weighs 4,000 lbs with a driver or is that cutting it close?
When you are talking weight and wheels i belive that's usually per corner. I have some 15x3 centerlines that are super light much lighter than the jegs wheels and I never had an issue with them .
