Firestone Wide Oval bias ply

Just swapped out my brown letter BFG's for correct Firestone G70x14 Wide Ovals. The BFG's definitely rode better but
I couldn't take scrubbing the tires all the time to keep them white. The Firestones ride better than I thought they would and
they sure look better in my opinion. I'm happy with the swap !

Ya, I'm done with BFGs. The fronts are fine. The rears (diff size) were replaced after one year under warranty and they are brown again. Great job BFG!
I might just flip the white now brown letters inboard and go blackwall. No more free advertising.
Not sure what to buy for the next set.

The Wide Oval Radial is only slightly more than the bias ply version. They are the best looking 14" tire, just ridiculously priced. I must bought my BFG slightly before the browning issues.

I think Im gona try to paint the rear letters. In another 5 years, they will be replaced.

Beautiful car. Cheers to you for the thin side stripes.

I called BF Goodrich (I guess it is really Michelin) over the browning issues. They actually put together an information sheet for how to deal with it (I guess they don't want to ). In addition to that scrubbing it off with brillo pads, the more time in the sun the better was their suggestion. Since a lot of these tires go on classic cars, I found that last suggestion by them a bit comical. I did the white marker on the spare and it looks very good. I was not going to go back to them on this last set, but did not like the larger look of the Cooper letters and I had a very hard time finding the Thompsons locally.

All I can say is they don't care. Good neither do I.
My money will go elsewhere. The decision is made to flip the black walls out. Actually, I think I'll just burn them off and start over with a brand that might give 2 *****.
All good things must come to an end... that'd be the BFG era.

I have the same feeling about the BFG's. That's why I swapped out mine. I found a guy wanting to trade for my BFG radials for his Wide Ovals. Great deal for me.
