Custom wheel backspacing question?
Custom wheel backspacing question?
Hello everyone,
The question that I have is since tax refund season is right around the corner I am looking at wheels and tires for my 69 cutlass the wheels I am currently looking at are
17x8's for the front and 17x9.5s for the rear the rear with 5 inch backspacing by mb wheels called oldschool or I would like to run coys c-5's in a 18X7 front and 18x9.5 rear with 5.5 inches of backspacing.
My question is about the backspacing beings that ive seen members say if you run a 10 inch wide rear wheel you need 5.5 inches of backspacing would that also be the case with a 9.5 inch wheel since it is .5 inch narrower.
Also stance wise Im looking to nail the first time around I have hotchkis 2 inch lowering springs on the front with what I beleave are stock springs rear does anyone have any suggestions on tire size because I would like a tire that is going to fill the wheel well but at the same point dosent have any clearance issues.
Im thinking for the rear probably something in the 27-28 inch tall range because I currently have some old centerlines on the back of the car that are 15x10's that where given to me and i have 275-50-15 bfg's on them and the width of the tire i like its just not tall enough!
