cragar ss wheels

Hello, Im very new to all this and want to get a set of cragars on my 1964 f85 cutlass. I found a set on craigslist but I'm not sure if they will fit,any help would be greatly appreciated. The rims specs are as follows
2- 15"X9" with a 4.25 "backspace
2-15"X8"with a 4.25"backspace
They are uni lug 5x4.5 and 5x4.75 bolt pattern
Thanks again

The unilug bolt pattern will be OK; you may have to find the special washers and shank lugnuts for them.

Not sure if 15x9 will fit under your rear wheel wells. Cutlass rear wells were a little tight thru about 1969.

15x9 wheels will fit fine. It's the TIRES that will be the problem... Since you didn't tell us the expected tire size, we cannot offer useful information.

I will note that only 4.25" backspace on a 9" wide wheel means that you have about an inch of negative offset. That means that the wheel will be pushed towards the outboard edge of the wheelwell, and for any tire you typically would mount on a 9" wide wheel, you will definitely be rubbing the wheel opening lip. You want as close to zero offset as possible, so that means about a 4.75" or even 5" backspace on a 9" wide wheel.

Not a fan of the uni-lug rims, always work loose.

Do yourself a big favor and buy new Cragers SS Rims. There still a damn good deal new. Better to start off with something new, that you know will work for your exact needs. Summit has them and you can catch deals once in a while on line. Good luck and nice choice for your car. Nothing looks better!

I do not recall the Cragar SS being made in a 9" width. I have had many 7", 8", and 10", but no 9". Are you sure they are being measured correctly? Wheel measurement is done from bead to bead not lip to lip. If they are being measured lip to lip they would be 7" and 8" measured correctly. Also recheck back spacing as that seems a little off as well.

Is that your HO ?

Nice car

My friends give me a hard time about liking the Crager ss rim, but I feel it is period correct and looks much better than the modern over size rims with next to no side wall.
I would buy new also with the correct off set and bolt pattern.
Good luck

The Tires are Competition Series Pro Trac

The front are P215-75D15

The Rear are P275-60R15

Purchased from Summit with the Crager rims. There was a back space on the rear but I can't remember what it was at the Moment. They Shipped to my house already mounted balanced and ready to Install. I'll try and post a rear shot so you can get a better idea what they look like from behind in a couple of days.

If you don't want to deal with the slotted lugs, I have the Cragar Chrome Eliminators on mine with 245-60-15 tires. Everything fits nice and they are close to the classic cragar look.
