Anybody know the story on the availability/rarity of these rims? I have heard that they were only available on 1971 SX's. Also heard that their use in 71 was related to the strike. The stamping on these rims shows a mfg date in 1969 which seems kind of early to have been used in 71. One of the 4 still has a tag from the Motor Wheel Corporation. Any value to these rims given their limited availability? Thanks.

 

I ended up with a nice pair of those when I bought a lot of SSI's a while back. Almost the same stamping, except mine say 878. They were 71 only and will clear discs. I figures I could use them in back with some wider meat.

 

Yes, these are stamped 878 also.

 

They were not only installed on the SX cars.

 

Ok. It looks like 879 in the pic. so we have the same wheels. The only thing I see in mine and yours is there is no GM stamp, just a funny thing that looks like Prince made them.
I'm no wheel expert by any means, so maybe that's the way they are.
