back space question

back space question

I have 1987 442 with 15" factory wheels. Does anyone know what the backspace is ?

Should be close to 3- 3/4" Take one off to make sure i had a 86 Monte SS i had ordered wheels for years back and I'm pretty sure thats what they were.

That's correct. The wheels will be 15x7 with zero offset, so the backspacing will be slightly more than half the width (ie, half the width is 3.5", so 3.75" backspacing is about right).

And since some are likely wondering why backspacing with zero offset isn't EXACTLY half the width, that's because width is measured to the insides of the wheel lips, where the tire bead sits, and backspace is measured to the outside of the wheel lip. There is some thickness and usually an outward flare on the wheel lip that adds a quarter inch or so.
