67 Delmont wheels
67 Delmont wheels
Hey Guys,
I would like to change my wheels to 18x8" with 235/55R 18" tires from the factory 14" size wheels unless they wouldn't fit. I think I will need to use 1" spacers with the 18x8 4 1/2" backspace wheels.
Does anyone know the hub diameter right off hand?
Where could I get hub-centric spacers?
The hub diameter on the 18" wheels is 83.82mm.
I have the factory rear still in the car as far as I can tell, it's a 10bolt BOP Pontiac style.
I would also like to change to Rear Disc Brake from Drum if anyone knows of a kit or components that will fit.
Thanks for any help/advice on these issues.

I don't see any reason why 18x8's w/4.5 backspace wouldn't fit without spacers. The wheel wells are pretty big on these cars.
I would say that you're likely to get a rub on the inside of the front when turning. You probably have to use a spacer and/or limiters in front.
Is your car a Delmont 330 or 425? The 330 cars do use the BOP 8.2" 10-bolt rear but 425 cars use the big Pontiac 8-7/8" 10-bolt cover, 12-bolt ring gear. Sorry I don't know the hub diameter. BTW, those big rear drums work pretty well with good shoes and proper adjustment. I don't know that you'd see much of an improvement with a rear disc conversion - assuming you have discs on the front now. An easy way to get more rear brake is to swap on the 1/2" wider rear drum assemblies from a 98. You'd need the whole brake assembly including the backing plates.

Well, since you're buying new wheels, get ones with correct backspacing so you don't need spacers. And as above, 8" wide wheels with 4.5" BS shouldn't need spacers - that's about as close to zero offset as possible. The tire diameter and section width will determine clearance.
Thanks for the info guys.
The car is a 330cid. I am adding front disc to the car.
The reason I was looking at using wheel spacers is I haven't had any luck finding 18x8 wheels with the offset I would like to move the wheels out in the wheel well. I believe there is room for it. I could have custom wheels made for around $500 each.
Also be nice to find a good used limited slip for it.
