65 Jetstar 1 Wheel info needed

I'm looking to get rid of the aftermarket and 80's look of the wheels on the car. What type of cap would have been on the original steel wheels? I like the look of the dog dish caps, but 14" tab wheels seem to be an oddball. Would the small caps have been available on this, back in the day?

I would run 15/7 in steelies with 65 poverty caps. Not sure about 65 but the 66 big car jetstar used the wider 14/6 R code steel wheels ; same as the 66 442 not the reg cutlass 5.5 narrower wheel. Only seen them with full caps though. The OEM cap for 65 jetstar would most likely be the 65 deluxe or standard cap same as used on the 65 cutlass platform.

I always liked these on the Sfire and Jstar I, of course you need the special offset wheels to match these bolt on covers and the center part should be poliched chrome not black. Not sure if poverty caps were standard with the Jstar I.

Thanks for the input. I do like those caps with the bolt on center. Having no idea, I'm sure that set-up would probably give me sticker shock. I wonder what the availability/value of a driver quality set like that would be?

1965 Jetstar 1 has a 5x5 wheel bolt pattern, b body.

Jetstar 88 has the same wheel pattern A body 5/34 wheel size.

The N93 wheels option will set you back for diver quality $600 to $ 800 green backs.

Thanks for the info, that's really not as bad as what I thought it would be. That 5x5 bolt pattern is what is driving me up the wall. I've got 5x4.75 steel wheels everywhere. To top it off, the PO did a front disc conversion w/stainless lines. It's a quality set-up, and stops on a dime, but I'm not sure if I'll have clearance issues.

They make some nice aftermarket stuff..try Coker tire in tennesee..they sell all kind of cool rims and steel wheels..Personally a nice painted black steel wheel with poverty caps does it for me..

All 1971-1976 GM full size cars used the 5x5 bolt circle, as did the 1977-90 full size cars with HD brakes, and most of the 1991-96 cars. Some GM half-ton pickups and vans also used this bolt pattern. Wheels are not difficult to find.

The 1977-1990 cars came with 15" wheels that will clear disc brakes, but will not accept the hubcaps shown above.

Bringing this back up, because I've finally made a decision to spring for some tires. While I realize not to be correct, I like the look of the poverty cap style. That being said, do all 60's era poverty caps require a "tab" wheel? I was thinking there was a 15" Chevy 5 on 5 truck wheel with the tab, but they are proving to be elusive, as far as the year. Thanks.
