275/60R-15 on SS III 15X7

Anybody running 275/60R-15's on SS III 15 X 7 rims. If so do the bulge too much and do they fit a 1976 Cutlass without any issues. I realize they are tall but they are the same height as stock tires. My next choice would be 255/60R-15 and then 235/70R-15. I'd like to stay with the same size on all corners.

I believe the 275/60/15 will be too big for the front, either clipping the fenders or hitting the frame rail turning lock to lock.

I believe these were 245/60/15 (GR60-15) on all 4 corners of my old '75 442, 255s might work.

For an optimal fit, yes. Many people run them on a 7" wheel - I see cars at shows all the time with them. They do look like the sidewalls are pulling in but I have talked to the owners about ride and tire wear and no one had any negative comments. This is all just second hand info as I have no first hand experience with 2758s on a 7" wheel.

Now as far as a 275-60 fitting in the fender wells of a '76 Cutlass, I have no idea. They fit with room to spare on '70-'72 cars.

I found some pics of a 275-60 on a 7" wheel so yo can see how the sidewalls are pulling in:

No, I was referring to the rear wheel wells. Many have reported rubbing with 255-60s up front so there is no way 275s would work.

Is the OP wanting to put 275-60s all around? I interpreted the post as wanting those on back, not on front. The only vehicle I know of that had 275-60s on 15x7 wheels on all four corners was the Chevy 454SS truck. A '76 Cutlass doesn't have nearly the same room in the fender wells.

Oh.

Well then, I would say 245-60-15s are probably the widest you could use, but again, I don't know how much room there is in the front fender wells.

I run a 8" zero offset/4" backspace rim with a 245/60-r15 on the front of my 72. It rubs just a tiny bit on the inner fender, in the rear part, at full lock. My car is lowered ½", which I'm told makes the difference.

I had 255/60/15 on a 15X7 Rally wheel. Fits the wheel no problem. Don't know about fitment on 73-77 cars. A friend of mine, I believe, has 295/50/15 on the back of his 71 Cutlass.

Why would you want to put that wide of a tire on the front? Even if it works, it's going to kill with rolling resistance & steering
